Is Mascara Bad For Your Lashes? What Does It Do to Your Eyelashes?

Friday, February 28, 2014
Before some days me and my mom was just talking about the eye makeup and at that time my mom told me that mascara has lots of side effects on eyelashes. She is telling me about the study which was made on mascara. According to this study mascara thins out the eyelashes and make them thinner, lastly making them falling out. So is this true?

There's no reason for not to wear mascara and keep your eyelids safe. It is true that mascara can leave your eyelashes thin indeed but most of this happens due to user's mistake only. We can't blame the product every time. Here are few things which you should keep in mind before going to buy mascara.

When you're buying

There are some mascaras which make use of petroleum-based formulas. Always try to avoid these type of mascaras because they can cause allergic reactions to eyes and can slow down the growth of hair follicles. Mascara which has natural ingredients is proven to be gentler to your eyelashes, but they are expensive. If you have made a decision to buy a traditional brand mascara, try to look for hypoallergenic label as well as ingredients which boosts the lash conditioners. Don't purchase waterproof mascara as they are difficult to remove. So only buy and use it when it is utter needed.

When you're applying

It's appealing to force the mascara applicator in the tube to really coat that sucker with lash-enhancing goop, but resist the urge. If you pump the brush it means you are forcing the brush to go inside the tube, which helps bacteria to multiply. And do your eyes and favor and toss your mascara every four months, OK?

One more thing to remember:

Many makeup artists suggest to pile multiple coats of mascara on eyelashes. While this is absolutely fine for any special event, but applying these bunches of mascara on everyday basis make it difficult to remove the mascara at the end of the day. This can cause breakages and can make your eyelashes short and sparse.

When you're removing

The last and the foremost important step is to remove the mascara properly. For this soak a cotton ball with makeup remover and carefully rub your eyelashes. If you are quick and fast doing this then remember you can lose your eyelashes and may get serious patches on your face. So that's bad idea babe. It will not do anything only it will make your hair weak and can cause breakages. Which is not cool!!!!
